The Ecobee4 Smart Thermostat is an impressive product that comes with Alexa built-in and a room sensor. The device is easy to install, comes with mounting screws and screw anchors, and has a suitable back plate to cover up any holes left by a bigger thermostat. You can pair up to 32 sensors to the Ecobee4. However, you need a c wire for this device to work, and the thermostat only has a coin-cell back-up battery. The product is a touchscreen, and you can raise or lower the temperature by putting your finger on the screen or using voice commands. It is perfect for 5-bedroom houses and works well with two separate HVAC systems. However, the user interface is different for both systems. The product is not manufactured in the USA, and the delivery was slow for some buyers. The interface of the new app update is disappointing, and it takes multiple menus to change the temperature. It doesn't have sense terminals for obtaining the outdoor temperature at the heat pump outdoor unit, instead using the temperature obtained from the internet. It needs the outdoor temperature to know when to switch over from heat pump to gas furnace. There could be a temperature difference between the internet temperature and the actual temperature at the outdoor unit, which could damage the outdoor compressor by running it continuously when below 35˚F, by icing up and burning out the compressor.
