The filter cannot be used with a hood since the hood goes over the lens body, not the filter. While this filter works for photographic purposes, it is not recommended for photographing the sun, and one needs a higher ND filter to protect the camera's sensor. Though it can be used for videography/cinematography, it may create vignetting, shadows, and X-patterns depending on the adjustments made.
