The Time-Sert 7/16-20 Fine Thread Repair Kit includes a drill bit and a special tap. The tap is used to create threads inside the drilled hole to hold the included inserts. The outside diameter of the tap is 0.506 inches but the hole size for the repair should not be larger than the included 29/64 inch drill bit. Customer reception of this product has been largely positive. One customer used the kit to repair threads on a crankshaft for a harmonic balancer and reports it's holding up really well. Another customer used a 5/16 inch version on some Harley exhaust studs and reports 20,000 miles later they're still holding strong. Customers report that it's a quality set that makes it possible to end up with a strong and reliable repair of a stripped or damaged threaded hole. However, one customer felt the kit was really expensive and that it doesn't work for repairs beyond the first inch of threads. They did note that the drill bit seemed to be of quality, but felt the kit should be cheaper at its price point.
